Piano Concerto
The Byng Arts Mini School and the Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra are proud to present our annual Byng Arts Piano Concerto Competition
Congratulations to Junyi Chen, 2010 winner!
All piano players in Byng Arts are encouraged to sign up and compete for the grand prize of $300 (plus a trophy) and the opportunity of being accompanied by the Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra. One movement of the piano concerto will be performed and recorded live with the LBSO at our year end Byng Arts Assembly. There will be two runner-up prizes of $100 as well.
Interested students need to register by filling out the Byng Arts Piano Concerto Competition form found below.
All competitors must prepare one movement of a classical or early romantic piano concerto. If you have any questions about the suitability of a certain piano concerto please e-mail us by clicking on the link below.
A small panel of judges will hear all applicants perform their selections during dates in November (TBA). The top three performers will then play on Friday, January 21, 2011 in the Lord Byng Band room starting at 2:30 pm where the winner will be decided and the other two celebrated as well.
Deadline for applications is Friday, December 10, 2010.
This is an excellent opportunity for our piano players to keep focused on improving their piano skills even though they play another instrument, sing, act, sculpt, etc.
Start planning now. Let the music begin.
